A New Way to Give
A New Way to Receive
What We Do
Bakhita Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission has two parts: to fill the gap between donors and trusted partners/organizations who serve children living in poverty, ages 0-13; and to raise awareness of teen human trafficking. Our target area for both parts of our mission are in the states of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.
How We Do It
1.
Bakhita Kids raises funds through the generosity of our benefactors. It is important for us to consistently be raising money because we work in "real time" and address urgent needs.
Local charities know best what their people need, so Bakhita Kids works with them to provide items* for members of their communities. (Bakhita Kids vets all organizations we work with.)
2.
Bakhita Kids uses the donated funds to buy items to fulfill the need of the organization. 100% of donated funds go to the children we serve, since we have no overhead costs.
3.
*Bakhita Kids does not buy any items until they are requested by a trusted partner. Generally, items are purchased and sent from Costco, Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc. within 24-48 of the partner's request.

Our Fundraising Focus Area: Filling the Gap
Supplies
Bakhita kids knows the joy in bringing a new life into the world, and bolsters women’s spirits by providing all the items they need to safely and lovingly care for their newborn and beyond.
Current items we are regularly providing: clothing, toiletries, diapers, pack 'n' plays, car seats, and baby wipes. We also host community baby showers.
Education
It all begins with education. Monies will go to trusted educational non-profits, individual schools and school districts. Current initiatives include: backpacks and back-to-school items, books which help build character, summer camp trips, and more.
Food
With just a click you can feed a hungry child. Help us by supplying vouchers and/or gift cards for food to children through community organizations, schools, and more for weekday and weekend assistance. Current initiatives include: providing groceries for families in need and buying pizzas in low-income areas to be distributed to hungry children.

Our Awareness Focus Area: Human Trafficking
The goal of Bakhita Kids is to bring awareness of human trafficking in our OWN BACKYARDS in
Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.
By the time a child starts showing signs often attributed to being trafficked , they may be fully entrenched in this illegal activity. Human Trafficking treats the most vulnerable like property, controlled through manipulation, threats and violence to the victims or their families.
The average age a teen enters the sex trade in the US is 12 to 14 years old. However, preteens are being groomed and children are trafficked locally after school. Children as young as 3 years old have been trafficked.
